Paul Pagk

The drawings of Paul Pagk, created as a daily practice, may seem at first spontaneous and even slightly nonchalant, but a more sustained viewing reveals a great mastery of line, color and sensation. Pagk seeks to articulate the notions of poetics, time and space. Each drawing generates a field of visual tension between intimacy and immensity, geometry and organic forms, strength and fragility. The lines and varied reflective surfaces created by the multiple materials employed (dry pastels and bold, graphite, gouache, watercolor, marble ...) open a visual field emanating light and atmosphere, a narrative space that the viewer - with his own background - can further elaborate on.
