Sylvain Polony

Sylvain Polony, who has enjoyed both artistic and architectural schoolings, carefully and consciously decides upon the instruments and materials he will use when creating. Whether he works on paper, carton, PVC, plexi or aluminum, Polony constantly keeps in mind the possibilities and the restrictions that a certain material inheres. The result is an abstract whole in which industrial paint, spray paint and pencil are often combined. By always working in one uninterrupted session, Polony highlights the organic feature of his work. The artist himself likes to refer to the evolutionary process of stones, rocks and minerals. Due to crystallization, fixation and movement this material slowly, yet steadily transforms. In the end, it is up to the viewer to indulge himself into this work and to dive into the sensations that Polony’s colors and lines bring to life.
